Say Goodbye to Bad Breath!
Halitosis, also known as bad breath, is something that not all of us have but it does happen and can be quite embarrassing. Don’t worry, it can be fixed - but let's face it, it's time to take care of it!
One of the main causes of halitosis is poor oral hygiene and can be fixed by regular brushing, flossing and tongue cleaning. Xerostomia or 'dry mouth' syndrome may be another cause. When your mouth feels dry, you are not producing enough saliva. This might be caused by medications, chemo, radiotherapy or even dehydration. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and to stimulate saliva production - try chewing a sugar-free gum.
Oral infection & periodontal disease can also be a major cause of bad breath. Plaque that accumulates on the teeth, food particles and bacteria can make your breath smell unpleasant too. It's important to have regular check-ups with your dentist and have your teeth cleaned by your hygienist to avoid tooth decay and gum disease or infection.
