Porcelain Veneers Whistler, B.C.
instant makeover in a matter of days, not years... If you are looking to enhance your smile esthetically, beautiful custom fit veneers can provide you the answer you are looking for. A porcelain veneer is sometimes referred to as a 'mask' - a paper thin, custom-made covering applied to the front of a tooth correcting and concealing any flaws such as severe stains, chips, cracks, spaces, odd shapes, odd lengths and misaligned teeth. Crafted from very durable ceramic material, veneers help strengthen your teeth and provide you with a natural, bright smile. The entire procedure is completed in 2 short appointments spaced 2 weeks apart. Veneers are a very popular solution for those seeking the perfect smile in a short period of time. The first appointment consists of choosing the color that blends with your surrounding natural teeth (Remember, if you are not satisfied with the present shade of your smile, you
MUST whiten
BEFORE any cosmetic dentistry, such as a veneer, is completed. See whitening section -
click here). The tooth is then reshaped by removing minimal amounts of tooth enamel so that the veneer will blend with surrounding teeth and avoid overbuilding the tooth. An impression is then taken which will be the basis for the final model of your new tooth. The impression is sent to a dental laboratory where the veneer is custom fit to your mouth. You will wear a temporary tooth covering while your veneer is being designed. The second appointment involves removing the temporary and fitting the new custom veneer onto the prepared tooth. It is permanently cemented into place.
Veneers are intended to last many years and since each is individually sculpted, it is nearly impossible to tell the difference between the veneer and natural tooth. Veneers are stain resistant. When considering veneers, there are some important points to consider before undergoing the treatment. Because a small amount of tooth is reduced to fit the veneer, the process is NOT reversible. Veneers provide more strength when crushing an object rather than twisting or tearing. Therefore, just as natural teeth, patients are advised to avoid opening nut shells or tearing open chip bags with their veneers in order to avoid chipping or cracking. Veneers are not ideal for people with severe bite problems or for those who grind their teeth - a habit that can break a veneer.
